The Air District issues air quality permits for stationary equipment that produces air emissions in the Bay Area.
Air District fees for Permit and Registration Applications, Renewals, and Transfer of Ownership can be made online. Permit renewals and applications with a numerical invoice number may be eligible for online payment by credit or debit card.
Other Payment Options: Online payment of fees for Permit and Registration Applications, Renewals, and Transfer of Ownership is strongly encouraged, but there is a manual options that may take 7 to 14 days to process. Mailed checks are accepted when accompanied with an invoice pay stub and the invoice number noted on the check. Only one invoice number should be noted per check. Failure to meet these requirements may result in the return of your check.
If you plan to demolish any structure, or renovate a building, where more than 100 square/linear feet or 35 cubic feet of asbestos-containing material will be disturbed, you must notify the Air District. If you plan to demolish a building, even if no asbestos is present, you must also notify the Air District.
Fees for asbestos demolition/renovation must be paid online using a credit card, debit card, or eChecks.
First-time users must create an account before paying online. Once you have created an account, you can log in and fill out the Asbestos Job Application.
Some limited types of open burning fires are allowed in the Bay Area and regulated by the Air District, primarily for agricultural or natural resource management purposes.
Fees for open burn notifications must be paid online if using a credit or debit card.
