Santa Clara County Air Quality Resource Team

The Santa Clara County Air Quality Resource Team is working to reduce traffic congestion around schools in Milpitas. In 2005, the team did traffic evaluations at three schools in Milpitas and developed recommendations on how these schools could reduce congestion and increase safety at each school site.

• the Transportation Evaluation and Traffic Reduction Plan for Milpitas High School, Russell Middle School, and Pomeroy Elementary
The team also supports Pomeroy Elementary School’s “10,000 Steps,” a campaign designed to encourage students to walk to school for good health and cleaner air!
The team is working in collaboration with Breathe California to further develop a trip-reduction plan for schools along Escuela Parkway in Milpitas.
The Santa Clara County Air Quality Resource Team is also working to reduce employer-based traffic. In 2007 the team provided incentives for employers to start new vanpools – free wi-fi on the vans for three months, plus a wi-fi router for continued use on the vans! The team is pleased to offer this incentive again in 2008.
The team is currently working with local chambers of commerce to conduct commute solutions workshops. If you are interested in bringing this workshop to your local chamber, business park or office of economic development, please contact Stephanie Anderson at 415-975-2955 ext. 5 or sanderson@communityfocus.org.
In addition the team is supporting 2008 Bike to Work Day energizer stations in San Jose, Santa Clara and Milpitas.
